What the heck is this?!

I've been battling some algae issues after 5 months in my 10 gallon nano, and for some reason my inverts keep dying (Found my CBS munching on one, so he's outta there!)

Anyways, while doing water changes, I've been sucking up blanket algae (Don't know what) and today I found these sticking out my sand. Are they worms? Algae? And, more importantly, is it good or bad??

Thanks!

algae is because of phos and nitrates and also too much light. those three in combination will cause algae to thrive. pic is not working by the way.
please post pic again and also please post ur tank parameters like nitrates phos and amoo and nitrite too also ur lighting schedule.

Ammonia/Nitrates/Nitrites at 0. I do think my lighting schedule may be too much -- 70w Sun Pod on from 10 am - 6:30 pm
