I never run the filters and I have 13 fish, 6 shrimp, a mandarin and pipefish and 6 huge GBTA's. The only casualty so far has been an arrow crab that reached in to grab some algae and came out -2 arms. IMO they also pull too much floating debris out of the water column.

Yup.

BTW my MP10 runs pretty darn hot all the time so that part may not change.

The foam looks like poop and gets loaded with debris almost immediately. I have a small clown goby that perches near it without any problems. My small blenny flirts with disaster and perches right on top of it (inside it when I turn it off to work on the tank). My only loss has been a sea hare that got smoked when it got too close.

Have anemones in all 3 of my tanks, have 2 MP10's in each tank, use the covers on all of the MP10s. The risk isn't worth it, IMO.

I used mine initially because a few snails were trying to crawl over the housing and than i went to feed my fish and watched half the food get stuck in it. So they are off now!
