redo on older tank
After losing everything last winter, I just let everything go. Now I find that maybe I might try again with only one tank. Questions....I have a whole lot of dead (or dried out) rock and there is still sand on the botton of the tank.
Should I get rid of the sand, and will the rock come back to life? Thanks |

Yeah, ditch the sand.
The rock should be cured outside of the tank. I would toss it into a container, fill with saltwater, add a pump, and a few lbs of good quality pest free live rock. Do a couple water changes until the rock is cycled and nutrients are low.
