Tank Options
I am looking to what directions others would go.
I want to set-up a tank around 100 gallons and I was looking at the new Red Sea Max S400, I like that it runs nearly silent - but I'd rather have LED's - and the cost is the other issue. So I have a fe questions to the community. 1. Are there any good overflow systems out there with limited to no sound? - I've been looking on Glass Cages and a few other sites. 2. LED's or T5's? 3. Anyone think the Red Sea is worht the money? 4. I want to set-up the tank with black sand -anyone have any issues using black sand? Thanks |

To Reef Central 1. Are there any good overflow systems out there with limited to no sound? - I've been looking on Glass Cages and a few other sites. Yep there are a few that can be run quietly if you set them up properly 2. LED's or T5's? Depends on your budget and what specifically that you're trying to accomplish. Each lighting systems has it pros and cons and I wouldn't say that one is better then the other without more specific information. 3. Anyone think the Red Sea is worht the money? the Red Sea can mean different things to different people 4. I want to set-up the tank with black sand -anyone have any issues using black sand? I have no opinion on black sand Happy Reefing |

Is this a tank you already own or are you in the market for a tank?

On the market, either custom or pre built - glasscages.com will put an overflow anywhere in a custome build.
I currently own a 54 corner RR - but it's kind of loun but also kind of older to. |

Usually drain noise on the RR tanks is a matter of fine tuning and maybe a minor mod or two. I use a RR tank and it is very quiet. If I were going to buy a tank then i would likely just get one that was RR and make the adjustments to make it work right. If you're looking for alternatives then you may want to look into the Herbie or Bean overflow designs.
