Aqueon/Aquarium Masters aquariums
I'm thinking of buying a brand new tank (90+ gal) but it's been so long since I've done so that I don't recognize any of the aquarium manufacturers. The LFS in my area all seem to carry either Aqueon or Aquarium Masters. Any opinions on these? Any reasonable online alternatives?
The plastic braces they use on the Aqueon/Aquarium Masters aquariums make me a little nervous but... maybe I'm just being paranoid. |

As for the plastic braces, you can always add glass braces under them to add strenght, cut from your local glass company. |

I believe, if I read correctly, what was once called All Glass Aquarium (AGA) is now known as Aqueon Aquarium Products. I have an AGA 55 standard with the plastic brace with no problems. I've heard of some having this brace break, but it seem rather strong to me and not sure how they break them??

The old Perfecto is now Marineland.

Thanks for the input guys. Maybe, as wildman suggested, I'll just add glass braces to reinforce the plastic ones. I'm from New Orleans and back in the day we had three choices when it came to aquariums: First, Domino. It wasn't a matter of if it would leak but when. Ocean View & Oceanic were the two other and much better choices. However, I understand neither is what it used to be. I still have a 30 y/o 58g Oceanic.

Perfecto and Marineland were both bought by United Pet Group and the brand was consolidated under the Marineland brand. Their old website was http://www.perfectomfg.com which takes you to Marineland. As far as TopFin I have heard Aqueon and Perfecto and I have never heard anything definitive.

If you love the old oceanic, then go with Deep Sea Aquatics. Same people

I just purchased and picked up today, a 150g from one of the builders that started his own business. He was with Oceanic for 15 years. It is absolutely a beautiful, high quality tank. I had the center brace split in two parts, and it has a pvc bottom. You can custom order the tank any way you like. |

Yes I am! Small world! He did say he was going to branch out. He makes a lot of runs to Houston. I gave him, Rodney, and Rueben contacts to Austin and Waco.
Here is my new 150g - Here is a 150g in black powder coated stainless frame, glass bottom, side overflow - Here is a 350 g - And here is a big boy, 655g 120x30x42, going to McDonald's at the Dallas Zoo - |

Nice looking tanks! So is DSA a much better choice than Aqueon? I looked on their website and I really like their Ocean View 100g.
