Yellow Sponge

I have a few yellow sponges popping up around the tank and wonder if they are a freind or a foe. they are brite yellow some are getting big.

I heard that they deplete the calcium in the tank.

What?

Um... more than the clams, LPS, and SPS we put in tanks?

I believe sponges use silicate to create their pseudo 'skeleton'

yes you are right they use silica. they are actually similar to soft corals in that sense. both use spicules.

Anyways, i got those little sponges everywhere. they dont bother a thing and are cool
