Pruning and fragging
Can somebody give me a quick lesson on how to both cut and prune my corals, such as my zooanthedids, frogspawn, cabbage leather coral.... How do I detach it from the rest of itself with out hurting it? AND how to I create my own frag? I am going to utube to look for a video. But would like to hear it from u guys. Thanks

there are some good threads there about this, I want to highly enforce being very carefull with fragging zoas as they can be very dangerous and possiably kill you.

Frogspawn is easy. Just use a small saw blade or bone cutters to cut the exposed skeleton and break off branches.
I usually take a razor blade to zoas. Cut off as many as you want, going around the actual polyp. You want to get cut the mat. Then just super glue the underside of the mat to a rock or frag plug For other softies like leather corals, I like to slice pieces off with a razor blade, then very lightly rubber band them to a rock, in a spot in the tank that has slow flow. This will let them attach. |
