Culturing live rock

I took live rock out of tank and it dried in dirt outside for a couple days. I broke it apart into 2-3 inch chunks (approx size of pointer and middle finger combined). I put the chunks back into tank.
How long would these chunks take to become "live" again and/or viable to frag coral onto (pulsing xenias, zoanthids and any coral for that matter)?????

the term live rock is essentially referring to the fact that it has nitrifying bacteria living on it. So if your tank is well established I would say in a weeks time it would be considered "live" but you should be able to mount corals on it whether it is "live" or not. As long as the rock is in the water the coral will attach to it.
