Reef Angel Users?
Anyone using a Reef Angel controller? I'm thinking it will fit my needs best for customization and automation. Just looking for feedback on failures, etc.
Thanks!!! |

I love my RA! Only thing I had an issue with was calibrating my pH, I forgot to reboot the RA.

I live my reefangel and the owner/community is second to none in terms of support.
My ra... Sends me alerts Tells me when water is on the floor Monitors 2 tanks and the room temp. Knows when to turn the fans on before the water temp starts to rise based on room temp or lighting. Monitors water flow in gph of my returns and media reactors Monitors my Ph Monitors my sg Monitors my orp (installing this weekend) Controls my vortechs Controls moonlights to mimic intensity and schedule of the moon. Acts as a backup to my ato system Does water changes Logs it all wirelessly online, on my cell, and on a server in my house. I couldnt imagine not using it.

For water changes I have a sw vat. I route the water into my sump and the RA knows its on wc mode so it uses a float switch to control a pump that pumps the old water down a drain. Unless WC mode is activated that float is normally a backup to my ato.

Does RA have a wired Ethernet module? I'd prefer not to have it over wireless..

Not at this time. There has been some interest on the RA forums so someone might be working on it.

I have had my RA over a year now and love it. What I really like is that there is always something new, software and hardware. Support is great also! Roberto is always there to help.

Which version are you RA lovers getting? The PWM or Analog? Why?
Thanks in advance, Jim |

Is it also true that if I'd like to control Tunze Streams I need analog? I also heard Vortechs can be controlled but I didn't see if they were analog or PWM.

Question(possibly stupid): I'm looking into a RA to handle my new system, but for driver related reasons I will likely wind up with a mix of both PWM and analog dimming. Is it possible to pick up the analog version and then add the PWM extension module?

Just finding this thread now...my two cents...the RA is the best thing I ever bought for my tank...the programming is a big part of the fun, as you can endlessly tweak things to meet your ever changing needs...and you really don't have to "program", the new wizard and the Software generator will write it all for you and you can always "borrow" code that users have posted on the forums...if you can cut and paste, you can program the RA. I bought mine before the RA+ came out, and I will probably upgrade as I have maxed out my memory. Wish the RA+ had been available when I bought, but no biggie...I would definitely get the RA+ because as soon as you get it, you will be programming like crazy to customize the controller....
