How long have you had your tank up in running?

I would suggest not doing a water change until the end of the cycle...What you are looking for is the tank to change ammonia into nitrite then to nitrate, and final into nitrogen....The tank may need to be ghost feed while the tank is cycling.

How "primo" is your live rock? If your live rock has a lot of life....sponges, mushrooms, hitchikers of all sorts......then you may want to preserve them by keeping the ammonia spike down with water changes. If this is just a regular live rock, then wait until your ammonia anad nitrites are down before you do a water change. IMO, of course .

if ur tank is a new setup just few weeks then let the tank cycle on its own. it will recover very soon as it already have good bacteria in there. tank is going through a mini cycle should end in few days. i wouldnt do anything just check for parameters. when ammonia and nitrites are zero then u can do water change.

Do you clean your LR before putting it in the tank?
