Yet another "is my tank cycled" thread
Not a noob, but I never started a tank this way before. I bought some live sand that I used for another tank. I had a lot left, so I put some in a 10 gallon that I planned to set up soon. I added the heater and an airstone. I periodically fed the tank with mysis. I got super busy at work, putting in ridiculous hours. That was seven weeks ago. I finally got a filter and 9# LR Friday. Tested the water today, 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrites and 10 ppm Nitrates. The LR is fully cured from a well established system. Sooo, could it be ready?

since its a 10g, you should try feeding it with some more mysis for another week (check levels daily)....After a week with no ammonia spike, the initial cycle should be done.

If you've been feeding the tank consistently, you should be fine. If not, the beneficial bacteria may have died off and you may have another cycle. |
