90 gallon 6 months-critique
i have had my 90 gallon up and running for about 6 months....it is an acrylic tank. i have a 30 gallon sump that is behind the tank in a closet that i have made into a fish room. i have three aqua illumination sols on the tank that are suspended about 8 inches above the water. i have the ai controller that controls the lights from dawn to sunset with a lunar cycle. the lights get to a max of 40 percent. i have a reef keeper elite controller that doses calcium and alk via brs dosing pumps. i have the reef octopus nws 150 skimmer. i also dose gfo via the brs reactor.
my livestock consists of two green chromis, clownfish, royal gramma firefish, lawnmower blenny, flame angel and a diamond goby. corals consist of green stary polyps, whammin watermelon zoas, frogspawn and a new addition today was a finger leather coral. parameters are the following: 1.025 sg, 450 cal, 9 dkh alk, 1500 mag (little high.) i started the tank with about 75 pounds of base rock and 3 live rocks from lfs. i did not add any corals to the tank til about a month ago. i feed mysis, rods food, flakes and nws pellets. i occassionally add selcon to the food. i am looking for a critique on my tank and welcome any suggestions as to next fish choice and corals....my next coral will probably be a rbta as a co-worker of mine wants to give me one of his that split. |

i also would like to know what the orange thing is underneath the leather coral....also what is the correct name for the leather coral...forgot to mention that the coral came with a hitchiker, a green brittlestarfish.
I also am running two vortech mp40s on either side of the tank...one of the next purchases is a battery backup Last edited by jasimek; 05/14/2012 at 07:58 PM. Reason: Forgot something |

Nice tank.........
Hey are they pyramids snails on the glass? If so be careful with them as far as a outbreak if you decide to get a clam. They took one of mine out cause I thought they were cool and did no harm. Six-line wrasse, green and yellow corris wrasse eat them. however they are by no means effective enough to permanently rid your clams of pyramid snails. Pyramid snails are active at night and wrasses sleep at night.

I'm a big LPS guy, so I would say add some Acans, a duncan, a frogspawn, and a hammer. haha
Watch that flame angel for coral nipping. I just added a lyretail anthias and I love it. You could also look into a yellow tang or a basslet? |

they are not pyramid snails./...they are dwarth ceriths/planaxis. i got them from reef cleaners. i also have florida ceriths, nassarius vibex, nerite snails and i have a cleaner shrimp.
Here are pictures of my fish room/sump since people wanted pics. i do not currently have a refugium but plan on adding one when i get a larger sump during the next sale....i forgot to mention that i also run an emperor aquatics uv sterilizer 24/7. i feel that it keeps the water crystal clear. i have a quarantine tank setup with nothing in it at the moment other than a base rock with sand which i would remove if i needed to place anything in there. |
