Question lizzard tank - is there a

Is there anything special about a marine tank? My local pet store don't carry a lot of selection. There are some tanks for lizzards that looks pretty good and looks like the same construction. I'm considering it because of the shape.

A tank for fresh and salt water is the same. What about others? We can use a fish tank for lizzards. How about the other way around? The sales person is no help (I think). So I'm asking you.

Is there something I should be aware of using a non-fish tank?

'critter' tanks are not always water tight.

For small tanks they may be the same, but tanks made to hold lizards are usually a lot thinner glass and are not made to hold water. Why build something that costs twice as much when glass half as thin works. Don't use a tank that isn't marked as an aquarium as one, because they are technically terrariums.

So I would say probably no, but your pet store SHOULD know the difference and let you know if it can hold water.

Even if turns out to water tight, they tank may crack and explode once it has 800 pounds of water pressing on it.

As stated NO, reptile tanks have thinner glass and less silicon on th edges. It might hold water during initial tests but it will soon fail as it is not designed for the stress of that much weight.

I was driving home from work and found a 40b size tank on the side of the road with a free sign on it, when i got it home i noticed it was a reptile tank. the glass on them is scary thin. Now that "free" tank cost me $250 because my son found it and had to have a breeding pair of lepard gekos for his birthday.

I have a 40 Breeder sized reptile tank sitting empty. It says VERY CLEARLY on the tags "DO NOT FILL WITH WATER"

I couple inches of water for turtles or the like shouldnt be a problem but more than that not a good idea at all.
