Panorama Pro for 60 Gallon

Hi everyone! I'm slowly getting my old 60 gallon tank together (48Lx15Wx17H). I'm looking into installing Ecoxotic Panorama Pro modules under my canopy. Which modules and how many will be able to support SPS, LPS, clams, etc. ?

Would 9 modules do? I was looking at 12000K/445nm, 445nm, and the 445nm/magenta.

Thanks for your input!

I know you said you have a canopy but by the time you have bought all 9 modules, the power supplies and other accessories you will be close to $1k for it all. You could get 2 of the 24" fixtures for that price and ditch the canopy altogether if you want.

If you want the canopy, I would go with 2 of the Panorama 2D retrofits and then throw in some blue/magenta Stunners to go with it all.

If sticking to your original plan go with 8 modules total and run them front to back on your tank, not right to left if that makes sense.

Like this: l l l l l l l l
Not this: = = = =

I hope you can see the idea there. I would go with 4 all blue and 4 of the 12k/ blue and then throw in the blue/magenta Stunners in front and back of them. I recommend the Stunners for the magenta because I find the magenta on the PRO modules to be a little strong. You can start with 2-24" Stunners and add more down the road.

Just make sure everything is well ventilated and there is a space between the module and canopy wood. If it sits flush, you will trap the heat in and kill your lights.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for you input! So, I was looking at the Panorama 2D retrofits w/dimmer driver. What are your thoughts on this particular product?

I was thinking of getting 2 of these models and connecting it to a Neptune System. It'll definitely shave off a few hundred dollars compared to the Panorama Pros.

I have 3 panorama pro's for supplemental lighting on my 75 gallon aquarium. They are nice lights and I like them a lot. That said, I agree that you probably want to consider the panorama 2d retro with dimmable driver. If dimming isn't terribly important to you though (pro's are not dimmable) You may want to consider Kessil A350's as another option. Impressive light, you could have 2 over your tank for $800 and have plenty of coverage. They are manually dimmable, but I personally would set it how you want it and forget it.

Yea, I'll probably go with the dimmable version since I have credit at Dr Foster/Smit and that's the only version they have of the retrofit.

What do you guys think of the Ecotech Radion? I know it's a little more pricey than the Ecoxotic but says it "communicates" with their Vortech (which I have).

I'm still debating what to get here. Going back to the Panorama Pro Modules, will 6 strips do instead of 8-9?

3-445nm
3-445 / 1200k

I'm running 7 panorama over my 125g. Granted it is a fish only, but I love the color I have achieved with being able to choose my blue to white ratio. I have a deep ocean appearance instead of the "airport runway lights" appearance I had in the past with the MH I over ran my reef.
