GFO reactor flow question

What exactly is the proper flow for my TLF 550 reactor. I am running BRS GFO in it currently and have heard you want it to look like it is simmering, then I have also heard that "simmering" is to much and you want it to just barely move and not so much as a slight tumble. Also do you have the exit tube dumping back into your sump or back into the tank? Thanks
