frozen foods...
maybe this is a stupid question, but i just dont know.
How long are frozen foods good for after they have been thawed? I thawed a small chunk of mysis shrimp and left them in the fridge, how long can I use these? my 2 tiny (1") perculas love the shrimp, but i have only been giving it to them once maybe twice a day. feeding flakes twice a day. they are still in QT for another 2 weeks(not that i think that should matter, just kind of areminder to myself) thanks again for the help in advanced. |

I dont keep thawed food for more than 1-2 days. I think it starts to spoil after that.

I thaw food and keep in the fridge for 3-4 days and have been doing so for at least 6 months now. The fish have no problem eating it on the 3rd or 4th day. I haven't lost a fish and all fish are healthy/growing. So, that's good enough for me.

If you had frozen fish in your freezer, and thawed it for dinner, forgot about it and discovered it the next day. How long would you be willing to leave it thawed in the refrigerator and still eat it yourself? And remember, you are safer than the fish because you are cooking the fish before you eat it, the fish get it uncooked. If I thaw it, it's getting fed to the fish now or never. I don't thaw anything and then store it in the refrigerator to be used uncooked for me or for my animals. Just being conscientious.
