Other Shrimp w/ Pistol Shrimp
I lost my peppermint shrimp last week & was wondering if there is anything else that would be ok in a 12g with a tiger pistol. I'm not really looking for another peppermint, the last one was a jerk.
The peppermint was in the tank before the pistol & he learned to stay away from the burrow. If it's not a good idea I can wait until I get my 28g going & add that shrimp first with the firefish.

Can anyone with multiple shrimp chime in?
I was considering finding a home for the pistol but now the goby is back to hanging out with him again.

You cant trust a pistol with other shrimp or snails IME. there are a tons of species and some may be better than others, but I didnt have any luck when I had one so I had to find him a new home.
Now if I could just convince the wife we need another tank I wouldnt mind keeping one with a goby since they are cool and I miss the snapping sound coming from my tank

Ive got a cleaner shrimp and pistol shrimp in my 75g. Have only had the pistol for a week but all good so far. Granted, the pistol only comes out at night, and the cleaner to tends to disappear at night and there is enough room for them to avoid each other.

For the most part I have to say my pistol has been a model citizen. Leaves the snails alone. I lost my hermit but he tended to go to the openings of the burrow & got popped at a lot, the peppermint wasn't murdered by the pistol & was smart enough to run when he saw the pistol or the feelers peeking out.
I am thinking about a cleaner or a fire shrimp. There are enough places in the tank for everyone to coexist. The peppermint & the pistol were together about a year w/o incident.

I have two pistol/goby pairs in my 75g along with 2 cleaner shrimp and 3 peppermints. My tiger is out a lot and I have seen my cleaners right next to him multiple times without any incidents.

I would go with the cheaper shrimp first, 12 gallons is really small with a tiger pistol in it.
