lionfish advice??
How often do you feed your lionfish? I have seen and heard so many varying suggestions, so, what are your opinions? Right now, we are still feeding live (ghost shrimp) so not sure if that makes a difference as to how often (ie, does frozen or live fill them up more). He wouldn't eat the first day we got him, so yesterday was his first meal (about 4-5 days after bringing him home; thats only because we had to travel further to get the live food) and it was VERY easy to get him to eat from the tongs! We plan on setting up a 1-2 gal tank to house a batch of ghost shrimp for now, so we don't have to drive half an hour to get food every time we feed him... How long should we wait to wean him onto frozen or grocery seafood, what's your top recommendation of WHAT to feed, and how often (and how much) should we feed?
PS: Very surprised (and delighted!) that he and our damsel have made friends! The damsel gets awfully what I call gutsy and swims right alongside of the lion quite frequently! With not eating for 4-5 days, I was very scared the lion would have eaten the damsel by now... but so far, so good!

I would just skip the live food altogether. When it gets hungry, it will eat. Depending on it's size, silversides, or what I used to use, small pieces of whatever was on sale from the seafood counter at krogers.
Eventually, the damsel will, probably, ummmm, disappear. I no longer have a lionfish - it would not be happy in my reef tank, and would be swallowed in a second in my 150 by my eel. Because they are such messy eaters, they really are not a great choice for reef tanks, btw.
