2 kessil a150 on 40 breeder overkill?

Right now I have 1 kessil a150 ocean blue over my 40 breeder. I think itdoes a good job covering the tank but I'm not real sure. My question is would 2 over my tank be overkill? I have no desire to keep sps. Just lps softies zoas maybe a clam? Who knows but not sps.

I can get a used (1 month old) one for 150 but if you think it is not needed, then I could spend my money elsewhere.

This is my first sw tank and light so I don't really have anything to compare to.

Thanks.

I'm surprised you feel the coverage is adequate over a three foot tank. I'm guessing you have it hung pretty far above the tank? I only ask because I had one over a 30" tank and it didn't quite cover the edges at 6" above the water. If so I don't think one will support a clam. They have higher requirements than most SPS. Also keep in mind there are low light and high light LPS as well. If you have the light within 6" of the water I think you could support a nice mixed reef setup under one light but I don't see how it would cover 36". 2 over a 40B would not be overkill IMO and would actually be ideal.

Ok great. Like I said, this is my first tank so I'm unsure about ideal coverage as I have nothing to compare to. Sounds like another kessil is in my near future.

Does 150 for a used ocean blue sound good to you?

I would say so. They are typically going for about $190-$210 used.
