New cycling with shrimp question
40 gallon breeder
65 pounds of base rock Put raw shrimp in Saturday just wondering when I should expect ammonia to increase? My nitrates are around 20 ammonia is around .25 Thanks for advice in advance |

Day 3 or 4... all tanks are different. Don't rush

Mine took 2-3 weeks to raise above 1 ppm and another 3 weeks to cycle. Did you do any live rock or sand, wondering where the nitrates came from.

I did "live" sand in the bag. The rock I bought was "live" wet rock at Petco. I am very pleased with the rock. It was wet but everything on it was dead or at least appeared to be that way

Base rock mean dry rock. Let me know how long it takes you with the shrimp
