go to local petstore and get a fx5 filter pack that removes ammonia and drop it in sump or in front of power head. They come in three packs.. ZeroCarb... ammonia and activated carbon... RINSE IT OUT FIRST.

Yes. And if this resulted from just squeezing a sponge, you have more problems. Squeezing the sponge isn't adding anything to the tank that wasn't already there and turning to ammonia. Most likely, the tank isn't completely cycled.

Get new salt water in another tank, barebottom, no rock, and put the fish into it. Your tank may be crashing. You will need to change the filter daily test for ammonia 2x daily, and do not use that sponge. The fastest way to stop a crash is to get fish out, get fish and inverts safe, don't let anything die in there, and let the tank alone handle its problem. Amquel or Prime is your friend. Post whenever you have a question. This is back into quarantine for everybody until this tank can digest a pinch of fishfood a day and not spike ammonia. For barebottom qt non-cycled protocols, read the stickies.
