just starting out
After asking in local marine shops and internet reasearch im still a bit of a loss as have lots of mixed information.
I am looking to do a reef tank and a fish only tank i have already braught some equipment but would just like to know if theres anything else i need to get. i have 2 tanks,2 external filters,2 thermometers,and 2 uv sterilizers and 1 skimmer salt, so far i also have live rock but how much do i need per gallon? as i have been told so many different figures also which test kits do i need to buy to start with? as one shop tryed to sell me all of them and another told me i need 3 and also lighting ive been told halogen and led which is the best for what i would like to do also have some coral gravel as the shop i went to recomended it but have since been told differently! i tryed a marine tank a few years ago and ended up in disaster which i would like to avoid this time so any help would be great thanks andy. |

just for starters, I would read EVERY "sticky" on this website. Then after you read it all... read it again. Then ask what you dont know. you will learn alot if you do that I promise.

Read the stickies in the New to Hobby Thread. It will answer all of your questions and probably save you from impulse buys and buying useless equipment. It will also tell you what you need to be successful and come into this hobby not banging your head into a wall.
