Newbie Questions
I have a Biocube 29. It has 3 different lights in the hood. One is a light blue, one is white, and the other is a dark blue led strip. When do I run them? Do I run any of them at the same time as any others (together)?
Also, temperature question...currently my tank is 82-85 degrees, I know its a little higher than I need to be (not sure what is the right temp for my tank), is this going to hurt anything? My tank is currently on it's 2nd week cycling, I have nothing live in my tank except my sand and rock. Thanks in advance! |

The white light is the main daylight bulb, run it for 7-8 hours a day.
The blue light is the actinic light, run it 11-12 hours a day, start it a couple of hours before the daylight bulbs and keep it on all day and c couple of hours after the daylight (white) bulbs go off. The Dark blue lights are moon lights, you don't need to use then except for your night time viewing pleasure. I think it is a good idea to have them off at least a few hours during the night but some run them all night. During the cycle I would still try to keep the tank at 82 degrees or less. It's not as critical as when you have fish and corals, but things can go bad quickly at temperatures over 82. |

I have the same light setup. Here's my schedule right now:
Blue lights go on at 10 a.m. White lights go on at noon White lights go off at 8 p.m. Blue lights go off at 10 p.m. Blue LEDs are on from 10 p.m. through 10 a.m. (basically all the time that the other lights are not on) |
