How much of your salary
Lets see If I'm the only crazy guy out here. How much of your salary do you spend on your reef tank every month?

Too much. Although I'm pretty good about it. About $100 a week.

Any given week, $100-$300 I'd say. Always find a way to get something else but I'm actively working on a 600 gallon and have a new project every day.

Upfront costs are huge.
My biggest "money pit" was CUC. I spent so much money on trochus, astrea, cerith, hermits, turbos, emerald crabs. Oddly enough, around 80% of my present CUC is free... a bajillion collonista snails and a bajillion micro brittle stars handle the bulk of it. I recently added 3 emerald crabs just to handle the macro algaes. I'm hoping the emeralds work out as snails just seem to get starved out by the collonistas.

Very little. I donate frags to the LFS for store credit and pretty much everything is free to me.I haven'f paid money for a coral or fish in several years.
It doesn't hurt that I run low equipment tanks as I'm rarely buying hardware. All my lighting is LED so electricity isn't an issue. I did recently buy a Kessil 350. Between store credit and LFS goodwill my cost was so reasonable I can't even post it. Make my own fish food too. Bottom line my tanks cost between $200 and $300 out of pocket per year.

I've cut down from 3meals/day to 2 meals/day so I can spend an extra 150/month on fish and supplies.
