Converting LR scape..

Greetings everyone.. had a few questions here. (noob alert)

I currently have a Nuvo 16 setup with about 13 lbs of Fiji LR. It's basically 2 large and 1 small pieces of LR. The tank currently has LPS corals and a few fancy clowns.

I want to change things up a bit and move towards an SPS tank. The current rock scape has to go. It's too clunky. I'm wanting to make my own porous rock scape based on some of the info that’s online. Question is, do I start over from scratch? Trying to figure out what benefits I will lose by removing the current LR and moving toward artificial "dead rock" concerning the time it will take to seed the porous rock..

In the end, I'm leaning towards a scape like the following.. but on a much smaller scale.. a small part off to the side for a RBTA "island" for my clowns..
