RO/DI set-up ??
Heah! Being new to salt water I'm confused about the set-ups and how necessary it is to have one. ( $$) My tank isn't set up yet but will be very soon. Are there garden hoses involved and what if the tank is located quite far from the water source?
Also, would I be able to safely cycle my tank with tap water/marine salt /stress coat? And do water changes as it's done cycling then replace with some ro/di water? Any thoughts please! Oh, tank will be SHOWLR and i should post there i know |

One of the most important devices in this hobby. Mine is located in my laundry room, next to the stationary tub, so it doesn't have to be too close to your system. I would use tap water to check for leaks, but I'd fill it with RO/DI right from the get go, when setting it up.

Start with tap water and you're doomed for failure.
The RO/DI doesn't need to feed directly into the tank with hoses. That's what buckets are for. And pay attention to the flow rate: 75 GPD = gallons per DAY. Very slow flow rate. |

@Mike is your laundry room on the same floor as your tank? lucky. @Bong The 75 GPD is slow? seems pretty good. Someone told me a lot of water is wasted w/the whole set-up?
Now my tank and all won't be here until tues. instead of today because of labor day scewup or he forgot to order it last week.? .jeez... |

I'd suggest a 150 GPD RODI filter. I have the 50 GPD and it took 3 days to fill my tank up running from when I got up (anywere from 8-10 am) all the way up until 2am. We have 60+ psi pressure, its just a slow filter.
