Cleaning Sump With live Rock? Maintenance?

I have a 30 gallon Sump with about 25 pounds of Live rock/rubble and some cheato. I have the overflow to were it pours down into the rocks and cheato. Then a divider and the return pump on the other side. Does anyone on here do any Maintenance to the sump. I do not use any filters or socks in the sump. It is producing pods like crazy. Any Comments or suggestions would be great ..Thanks in advance.

what a lot of people do is run a filter sock and stir things up, once the water is clear they remove the sock.

it is the stuff will get sucked into your tank and then into the sock. If you wanted you could do a water change and just go around with a hose sucking out all the piles on the bottom so it doesnt go into your tank.
