Picked up a 30g Long... Qt questions

I picked up a 30g Long tank that is drilled but i'm not sure I really need to use a drilled tank and sump for a qt. Is there a benefit to using a sump in a qt?

Can I just close off the bulkhead and use it as a non drilled tank?

Note I am using this as a qt for new fish, not as a hospital tank at this time.

Any help would be great.

Thanks!

You can keep it simple. But remember the more stable the tank the less stress on the fish.

Yup, you can seal off that bulkhead with a PVC cap that fits (if its threaded on either side.... or stub a 6" length of pipe off the back and cap that, 6" so you have plenty left to use later). I always try to keep my QT tanks simple, it's less to clean if you do end up with some nasties.

Just like bb said.... simple and stable

I wouldnt suggest a sump for a QT. Make it as simple as possible. As other have said, just cap it.

IMO no sup because usually sumps are for skimmers and/or fuges and with treatments like cooper that can kill everything in the fuge and a skimmer can take meds out of the water that you want to keep for treatment. I say seal the bulkheads and use only the tank.
