Will this sump design work?

I've been lurking here for a little while and finally decided to post. I wanted to a "sump" into the back of my tank similar to the biocube setups so everything is more compact.

Anyway here is the flow design but, I had a few questions

The blue is the water flow and the brown is the live sand and the black lines are the acrylic walls.

The question I had was would the water flow correctly like this? or would the sand impede the water flow too much for this to work?

thanks guys!

The sand would imped the water flow. What type of equipment, if any, do you intend to place in this, or is it just a refugium?

A search for All In One (AIO) setups should yield some results for what others have done with regard to what you're looking to accomplish.

I wouldn't use any sand in that setup, but thats me. At least with live rock only, you could suck out any left over garbage on the bottom after a year or so.

where is your skimmer going to go?
