Flake Food Residue in Homemade Seafood Mix?

I tried this in the Reef Fishes forum with no response, so I will give it a try here.

What do you do with the remainder of the container of flake food? It seems that about 20% ends up as pieces that are too small to interest the fish. Do you just toss it?

I was thinking of including it in my homemade seafood mix but wasn't sure if it would stick to the food and get eaten or just wash off when the seafood mix is fed to the tank and create more excess nutrients.

Any thoughts or experience?

I pour half a can into my seafood mix, freeze it and grate it into the tank. I also put nori in it so i'm sure they are getting their vegetative nuitrition.
