Dennis's 150G Build Thread
So, my 150G is on order from Reef Savvy (72X24X20, Low Iron Front Glass). Not sure on overflow placement yet. It will either have dual corner overflows or a single centered or off centered one. Either way I'll utilize the Herbie method drain design. It will take about 3-4 months to get since they are backed up with orders from MACNA. Below is my equipment shopping list for the major components I plan on purchasing while I wait for the tank to arrive. Any and all comments/suggestions welcome.
Lighting: Maxspect Razor LED's 27" 16K X2 Skimmer: Super Reef Octopus 3000SSS Return Pump: Reef Octopus HY7000W Water Balster Water Flow: Eco Tech Vortech MP40 with battery backup X2 Heaters: Eheim Jager 250W X2 Controller: Neptune Apex ATO and Water Change: Genesis Renew Pro with pumps RO/DI: Most likely a 4 or 5 stage from BRS Sump: 75G home made. 3 chambers Skimmer/Return/Fuge. Return pump in the middle will provide 75% flow back to DT, 25% to Fuge Various other equipment to include refractometer, various test kits, water reservoirs(Brute), smaller power heads and heaters for mixing/moving water etc. Also equipment necessary for an eventual 20g QT.

I bet they will do a coast to coast external - eliminates any overflow inside the tank - nice look. But this will only work if you don't put the tank flush against the wall.

FINALLY got to order some equipment for my upcoming build. Figured since I won't have the tank until end of January or so, I waited to get some Black Friday dicsounts. Christmas certainly has come early!

Quite the haul you got there. I like those kind of early Christmas presents. Good luck with the build. I'll follow along.

When I spent that much on my first tank, my ex went crazy. But man does it feel good to buy new things.

Book cases are built, stand is in. That's my sump sitting on top for now. Still need to add the baffles. Hopefully in a few more weeks the tank will be in and the real fun can begin.

I just emailed Reef Saavy about a 200g and I'm going down to Miami later this week. I'm looking forward to following your updates.

Finally! My tank is built and is being shipped. Took longer than expected, but I'm sure it will have been worth the wait.

tagging along, the tank looks great. Bet that is going to be heavy. Did you finish your sump, or is that your weekend project?

Looking good Dennis, the tank looks great and i like the dimensions. What type of reef are you going to keep if i can ask, you seem to have things well planned out. Btw a coincidental delivery of flowers to your wife on the day your expensive purchases are delivered works wonders......... just saying......

Sounds like a good plan to start with the easier to care for corals and there's no reason you can't have a ton of color going that route. The preemptive wife strikes will stand you in good stead mate lol.
