Alk test

I bought a red sea alkalinity and ph test today. im still new to this. my ph is at 8.0 and my alk reads in the coler chart as normal 1.7-2.8

what is my exact alkalinity i read on here that alk suppose to be -alkalinity 8.3-9.3 on KH scale

how do i test in that form??? thanks

i did some more research and here is where i am at.

on the red sea alkalinity tester chart i am in the beggining of 1.7
i read that having alk at 8.3-9.3 on kh scale is good.

so i got my kh tester and tested my water and it started turning yellow at 8 drops and fully yellow at 9 drops. so 9 times 17.9 is 161.1
which method is best for checking kh at a more stable view.
sorry if this is confused im confused myself a little, lol
am i doing this right?

You're talking about two different units. Like meters vs. feet. Go o line and Google alkalinity unit conversion. There are several pages that will help you convert. You have ppm CaCO3 and you want dkH you say.

You can measure alkalinity in any units you like. It makes no difference whatsoever. If I say 3ft or 1 yard it is the same distance.

Really depends on the corals in your tank. If you have a swing of more the 1 dkh, SPS arent going to be happy about it. Others will be more forgiving
