Algae Question
Good Afternoon Everyone. I have a Algae question. Ok my tank cycled about a week ago. I'm using Pukani rock from Brs and Caribsea Reef Grade Sand, I have been ruining my radions for about 12 hrs a day. I've only seen one small patch of brown algae growing on one of my rocks. I'm not sure if the fact that I'm not seeing more is a bad thing. I want to add my CUC but don't know if I should. As always any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Question: How do you know your tank has finished cycling. Have you been testing for Ammonia. Nitrites and Nitrates. If so what are the values. Also other params would be nice to know. But in general if your tank has finished cycling then the CUC would or should be the first entry into the tank. Brown algae can be an indicater the cycle is finishing. A lack of a lot of it indicates there was little amouints of silica in the substrate. Thats a good thing.

Yes, I cycled the tank using the raw shrimp method. Got my spike in ammonia, then nitrite, then nitrates. Did a 30 percent water change.
