tank dividers

I was wondering what some of you use or used in the past
to divide a tank for different species of fish. Any ideas would be appreciated. And also what do you use to keep the divider in place.

Thanks for your help.

It is not common to house non-compatible species in the same tank (most of us use multiple tanks), but depending upon the size of the fish you could silicone either egg crate or perforated acrylic to divide your tank.

If I were to do it, first make sure the tank is big enough for both. Second, the tank would need to be dry and if it were me, I would us acrylic and drill 1/4 - 1/2 inch holes in the acrylic to allow water to flow through. And bunch of holes too. Then silicone it into the middle of the tank and allow to cure for at least 48 hrs.

I use a piece of acrylic with holes drilled into it to divide 1/3 of the tank when I get new fish for the 250g FOWLR. You can insert it & remove it without taking out any water if you size it properly, it works very well, I usually allow the new fish 3 months or so divided to make sure they get their own food & it allows all fish to get used to seeing one another.

I would suggest egg crate as it is cheaper than acrylic and easily shaped and silicones into place
