Cleaning tank necessary?
Couple months ago I washed my tank with soup, probably wasn't a good idea but right now there's dust in it. Should i just wipe it down? Getting ready for saltwater tank. Have all my stuff set up in it. Looks clean other than dust. Is it fine ?

I would just go with a bit of vinegar and hot water. Then rinse well

was it tomato or chicken noodle soup? lol just messing with ya
i would go with the hot water and vineger and rinse very well any soap will kill the tank.

I actually don't remember using soap when I was cleaning my tank, i just scrubs with a magnet glass cleaner. But I want to be on the safe side. Would rinsing with warm water be enough, if not what kind of vinegar and do I just pour it in there and mix it with with water and let it sit? Possibly alittle scrubbing

You should be fine if you rinse it thoroughly with water. Vinegar wouldn't hurt either.

Use regular white vinegar. Don't be scared vinegar and water works wonders when trying to clean an aquarium, powerheads, pumps, heaters, or anything that had algae, coraline or anything hard. I use water and vinegar to clean my powerheads and loc-line returns regularly and use it on aquariums when dirty and putting them away or getting ready to set up.
Just be sure to rinse it out/off well before setting up or putting something back into aquarium. I know several people who have done the vinegar and water and then followed it up by bleach and water (the bleach dissipates as it dries) Nothing to worry about with the vinegar and water if you rinse it well. Thanks a lot! I'll be picking up a bottle of white vinegar, how much should I use? On a 17gal tank.

i would just use the whole gal. and the rest warm water, after a good scrub drain it and just rinse with water and your good to go.

The vinegar is to remove calcium buildups if there are no white spots skip the vinegar and just rinse out with water. Every six months run your pumps for an hour in a 30% vinegar solution to remove any calcuim.
