Whats the verdict on Tunze New Powerheads?
I currently have 2-Tunze 6105 with 7095 Multicontroller pumps and they have been work horses for the last 8 years. One of the pumps has been setting off the alarm, cleaned them each time with vinegar to make sure the calcium deposits are gone and a smooth running magnet. But the same one keeps freezing up weekly and the alarm goes off at 3:00 am my wife has to wake me up to turn off the pump. I believe its on its last leg....Looking at purchasing the new looking Tunze 6105 for $347.00 Ouch...since I have the controller, my question is are the new looking Tunze better quieter? Anyone have first hand experience/
Thanks |

i recently bought a new model 6055, which is essentially silent, noticeably quieter than the old model 6025 it replaced.

have you tried just replaceing the drive unit?
also post in the tunze forum for other ideas, it may just be something minor. I don't have experience with the 6105's but the 6000's I have are still running strong after 8 years and they were bought from a guy that had them 4 years

I have two newish 6095's which replaced old 6101's (I believe). Had the new ones for almost a year now. No problems at all. They are much easier to articulate on the new brackets. Also they are not as bulky as the old 6101's. Plenty of flow for my 95g. In fact I have to dial them down a bit on the controller.

I have a brand new 6105. I have to look at the controller and see the little light to know if it's on. You can touch your ear to the magnet and if everyone in the room is quite, you can hear it a little.
