75 gallon reef start up
Just starting out setting up my first reef tank. I have had freshwater for 20 years. Have had the same freshwater fish for 16 years (florida gar). I have a 30 gallon saltwater tank that was given to me, water and all.
So I purchased a 75 gallon with a refugium. This will be my first go at starting a reef tank. I am using miracle mud and I am waiting on my RO/DI to arrive before I begin. My fish choices probably aren't the best, but I am open to try anything. I have a tomato clown in the 30, with a small niger trigger (he may be sold) and two engineer goby. I plan on moving all to the 75. I would like to keep a flame angel or bicolor, but I have heard some cons about the bicolor. I also like purple tang, but thinking the 75 may not be adequate for a purple tang, or any tang for that matter. I plan on keeping the 30 going and using it as a QT tank. I am in no hurry, and trying to go at this slow and correct. Looking to start with some easier corals and go from there, ie, muchrooms, leathers, etc.. I am still trying to learn before I waste money. Looks like a great forum with a ton of information. Thanks! |
