Mounting American DJ powerstrip
Just got my 8-outlet American DJ powerstrip, but I'm kind of at a loss when it comes to mounting to my stand. Here is a pic of my stand
I'm thinking of mounting it in the center, but I'm not sure what to use... Any suggestions??? How did you mount yours???

I just bought one and to my way of thinking it is best kept OUT of the stand.
How about on the side not used too much? This will avoid water from evaporation getting into the unit. |

How about something like this... http://www.lowes.com/pd_315661-1277-...ket&facetInfo= you would have to modify the one side by drilling holes to match the DJ strip.

Do I need to worry about supporting the back of the unit? Or will the screws on the front be enough?

You could try with out any support, if it did need it you could use something like this http://www.lowes.com/pd_301796-34146...t=pipe+support they sell it in plastic as well but couldn't find it on the website. Just remove one of the screws on the side of the strip then attach the plastic hanger tape with the same screw, and attach the other end up higher on the inside of the stand above the front of the DJ Strip. Hope that makes sense. I know this is a crappy sketch but it should give you an idea for the rear support.

I just unscrewed the 4 screws that hold the metal case of the powerstrip on, ran a couple screws through the top of the metal housing into the bottom of the tank stand, and screwed the case back on. Very sturdy and keeps the wires up out of the way of the sump and other equipment.

I just got one and I am looking to put it outside of the fish stand. One reason for me is it is tight below my tank, so I do not have room for the ATO water. I have a nano stand next to the tank that no longer has the nano on top. It holds the same switch panel. I am going to build a matching (to my tank stand) cabinet to hold an ATO bucket and all electrical switching and tank accessories. If I had room in the stand I would like to have a separate water protected chamber to limit corrosion and other scarier issues.
If you do want to put it in the stand though I think you just need to mount two pieces of wood solidly to the stand and put a heavy screw or bolt to mount the panel to these boards. |

I'll look into how reefmaiden mounted her's. I'm also still thinking about building a closet on the right side of the tank to hide the ATO and use for general storage.

I attached a pair of 2x2 stock running front to back on the bottom of a shelf and then screwed the DJ Box into that.
I think building a "Side Closet" is a great idea and of the things I enjoyed most about my last custom build. I made the area where the stand and closet met completely open so it was easy to pass cords etc down from the closet into the stand area. Inside the closet I kept my ATO reservoir, GHL ProfiLux controller, test kits and a whole lot more. Here are some pictures of the unit |

I just sorcerer a couple of these, and wondering if someone that has them installed can confirm the distance from eye to eye? It's 19" across the main body?
