When using regular Hanna checker..

So if anyone is using the regular Hanna phosphate checker what do you keep your po4 at? I keep testing mine and its always at zero but there's nothing wrong with my sps. I was wondering if I should try and increase it to .001? What's your guys idea

When I replace my GFO, I know it goes down to '0', but I don't test again until I see my SPS, specifically a Purple Nana start to get a little tan at its base, and it will be around .04 or .05, usually around the 2 month period since my last recharge of GFO.

Remember Hanna has a 4ppm potential error. A 0ppm on the checker could be 0-4ppm in reality. I am not sure if the error rate fluctuates between 0 and 4ppm or it will always be a constant error based on each particular checker. Maybe someone can help clarify.

I would like to know this too... maybe a better forum would be reef chemistry forum or the advanced topics forum.

One thing I know for sure. 1/2 of my reagent packs are wasted because I mix and then set it down for three minutes for the result.......AHHHH....I always forget. I wish this thing had a last number recall LOL

Mine always reads 0.00. I thought it was broken in the beginning, but tap water was testing at 1.3 something. Later, my friend was having algae issues and I used my checker and it was above 0.8, so it was working. I do run GFO, biopellets and have cheato and mangroves in my refuge. So, I'm sure all that is why it tests 0.00.
