Advice on new powerhead
One of my powerheads just died on me (was a piece of junk anyways). I would LOVE to get an MP10 but just had to dump $600+ into my car so money is tight for the next 2 months so only can afford around $100 for two new ones. Plus I really need to get an RODI unit as well.
http://www.marksplaceofpetstuff.com/...l.php?prod=718 Was looking into the hydor pumps? Seem to have pretty good reviews for what it does. The price is right for me at the moment so any feedback would be great. Thanks! |

Ok great! Glad to see some good feedback about them. I am going to try and attempt to pick up a used MP10 if I can get it for the right price, otherwise going with these.

I'm not sure where in NY you live but there was a used mp10 on buffalo Craigslist last week...wanted $130 or so. Check it out.
I was going to grab it but cash is too tight with Christmas. |

Yup, Koralias are great pumps. I've only had issues with them when I put them on a wavemaker and they constantly had to go on/off. I loved them so much I used to have four Koralias in my 60 gallon (sometimes 6 when I was experimenting with my wavemaker!).
I've since gotten an mp40 and I have not looked back. I sold off four of my Koralias, but I would still buy one in a heartbeat if I needed a dependable and affordable backup powerhead. I also agree with taking a look at any used aquarium equipment. For an mp10, I've seen some at pretty low prices. Good luck! |

I agree that koralias are great powerheads at a good price. However if you are looking for used mp10s and are not in a rush deals can most certainly be had. A perfect example of this is over the summer I found a couple used ones for less than 220 dollars for 2! That's less than one new one and they are wireless and work perfectly. Granted I had been actively searching for a few months so in the mean time it may be worth it to use the koralias.

I have 3 1400's in my tank and i've had no problems with them. I can't justify the price of mp10's or mp40's to the wife so they work great for me.

I have two evo 1400's on a JBJ wavemaker. The new ones are ok for wavemaker use, and mine have been turning on and off every 10-60 seconds (I change it often) for 9 months now. I did have one fail to start, but a cleaning algae out fixed it so that was my fault not the pumps.
