Dry rock, live rock timimg question.

Not exactly new to the hobby, but first time using dry rock. I had an established 75gl mixed reef hooked up to my 100gl basement sump that doubles as a frag tank with a 100lbs of live rock. I have since moved and disconnected the 75gl and put it on a wet dry., but left the sump running. I have recently setup a 210gl tank with a rock wall and 75lbs of Pukanity dry rock and I have a 30gl tank with 50lbs of Figi dry rock as a temporary sump.

My first question since I do not want to kill anything in the basement sump is; How long do you think I need to wait before I disconnect the temporary sump, connect it to my basement sump and transfer the Figi rock to it?

My second question is should I add a few peices of live rock to the dry rock now or wait?

Thank in advance
Mark

if you cured your dry live rock before putting it in our DT, I would say just test the water to make sure you got everything and arent having a spike in ammonia or nitrate. If all that is good, you should be able to hook the old sump up. If your sump has all your coral from the old tank in it. I would make sure your tank is fully done cycling before you hook it up.

As for adding live rock to the new dry. I like to add a piece right away. It helps reduce the cycle by seeding the water with helpful bacteria that will spread to the rest of your rocks. If your dry rock is very very clean. Don't be surprised if you barley get a cycle.
