How often to test parameters?

My tank has been up and running for a little over 3 months. Everything is doing well(some softies and lps). After the intial blow of money i spent, ive been waiting to buy a reef test kit. Thinking of getting the red sea reef kit. How often would you test parameters like cal, mg, alk? I have never done a test for either of these but by the looks of my tank so far things are doing well. I will start testing within the next month once i get the kit! Do you test regulary like once a week or what?

Once a week for alk, once a month for magnesium, and maybe four times a year for calcium.....that's my schedule, but it all depends on a number of factors really.
