Will Aptasia X poison aquarium water?

In the last week, after using aptasia x, 5 clams have died and been eaten by the tanks clean-up-crew. 2 of the clams that were sitting unattached in the sand seem to have been devoured starting with the foot. Every clam had been in the year old tank for at least 3 months. Other than the aptasia x, no additions or changes have been made, however, I probably used more than I should have without turning pumps and powerheads off.

If not the aptasia x, what else could have caused these little maggots to do this?

All corals and fish are still healthy and active.

Temperature 78-79 degrees
Specific Gravity ~1.025
PH 7.8 to 8.2
KH 8-10
CA 400-420
Nitrates 0
Nitrites 0
Ammonia 0

No, unless you dumped the whole bottle in or sprayed a lot on them. Clams would have expelled damage tissue from their mantel first, not from their foot. I'm thinking there is something else eating your clams, worm?...crab? New fish?

Nassarius snails, 2 blue leg hermits, and even a turbo snail were eating the foot when the lights turned on the other day.

The others were eaten mantle first, but seemed to be swarmed on as if the clams were already past their 'point of no return'

Could be the herms turned on them. Snails just cleaning up behind. Blues can go meat eaters.

Thanks for the aptasia x info. I still wonder why didn't any bumble bee snails show up to the dinner party; they're the only true carnivores. How can I make snails and crabs understand consequence?

How can "kalk-paste" with a lil "food coloring" in it poison a aquarium?

+1 for Aiptasia X didn't do it. I've used it a fair amount in my tank with clams. Then I got berghia nudibranches and they ate ALL the aiptasia, from the huge ones to every stinkin little tiny piece. Very satisfying.
