What kind of Protein Skimmer is this??
I purchased a 170 gallon aquarium and the guy threw this protein skimmer in with it, but I do not know what kind it is. I searched everywhere on it. It is approx 20+" high and the the cup lid is 8" across. I put a beer bottle next to it for reference. He gave me a blue line external pump to run it. He is out of town and I cannot contact him to ask the previous owner.
Here is a pic. I just want to know if it is any good or should I sell and get a different one? thanks in advance |

Looks like some type of down draft skimmer. Probably made by a relatively little known company or someone who is handy working with those materials.

Looks like a Bermuda Skimmer to me. I think it may be a BPS-8C.
Bermuda Skimmers I considered one for my 300 gal in the past. Could never figure out exaclty what their Schletz injector was but assumed it was some sort of Beckett or spray injector. Ultimately I thought they were overpriced new. Here's a thread about them. Not a ton of info though. BPS-5C Thread Hope that helps.
