Chaeto Factory

I have been unable to maintain chaeto in my fuge. With my next batch I'm thinking of growing some in an isolated tank. With the requirement that when this grows, I might add some to my fuge, what simple fuel would you suggest other than light?

The source water probably will come from my system but I'm considering freshly mixed water also.
