Potential Sump Inhabitants?
Noob question, to be sure . . .
I have a <20 gallon sump under my 90 gal. reef-wannabe-someday tank. It has only three compartments (in from overflow w/sock, skimmer and return pump). Question: If I put a small T5 or CF (grow-type) light above it, can/should I put a couple of snails, small chunk of LR, etc. in the compartment with the return pump or the sock? There's not much space, but I was wondering if some CUC-type residents might keep the detritus from accumulating in the sump. Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks.

not snails, they will clog your pumps and skimmer.
you can make a little fuge though, a small piece of rock and some macro algae and a small light over it. over time, different amazing creatures will make your sump their home, just be patient and give them time |

I like a bare botton sump/fuge with LR, cheato, skimmer. barebottom allows me to syphone out all detritus very easily.
