Diablo skimmer

Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong with this skimmers.Well first of All i turn the skimmer off before I take the skimmer cup off to clean it. Then I'll set the skimmer cup back on and plug it back in. I never change the gate valve settings and I have to reset the gate valve every time because the skimmer cup over flows. What's going on.

Temporarily restrict the air flow going into the skimmer as it fires up. I have to do this with my bubble magus skimmers as well. It seems the air agitation takes longer to ramp up than the water flow does so it just overflows with water. You can just put your thumb over/partway over the air intake until the air is better injected into the water column of the skimmer.

Is yours a recirculating skimmer? Can you divert the flow before maintaining it?

why not just turn your pump down a few notches take the cup off clean it and put it back on, then turn it back up... IMO thats one big convenience about a DC pump
