Older Tunze 6100's question

I have a pair of 6100.10 powerheads with the 7094 controller. they're probably 10 years old or so. I thought I could turn them down and use one in the 92 and one in the 45 but they'er way too powerful even at the lowest setting for the 45. is there any way to mod these to restrict the flow?

You could cover up some of the slots on the cover or if they are a true 6100 pump you could try to find some of the smaller pucks to change them to a 6000 pump.

The pucks determine the model as to whether they are 6000 or 6100. I have the 6000 and have 2 of them in my 72 gallon (got them for a really good price).. I do not have them set to go above 40%. They are on opposite sides of the tank and it seems to do pretty good.

You really only have two options, change to the 6000 pucks or see if Roger still has some 6200 series shrouds to broaden the flow. If you can't find any 6000 pucks I have a couple I can let go for cheap.

I'm not a tunze guru but couldn't he use the 7095 controller also?

Yes but it won't make a difference, 30% is as low as they go.

I will check with the local club and see if anyone has a 6000 puck, meantime I will PM you about a price for yours. Could do a swap as well if you're interested.

Roger is the Tunze rep? Just called there last week and had them send me a new impeller real easy to work with had it by the end of the week. Not bad service for a 10 year old product.

Thanks to all who replied.

Jack is correct that the best way to decrease the power of the 6100 is to use a different power supply, the 7210.202. It will cut the flow rate roughly in half, giving you about 1800GPH. Get in touch if you need any help with that.

Craig, Thanks I spoke to you last week, you were the one who got the impellers I needed shipped out to MN. Thank you for that. I am going to get Jack's pucks after I confirm the numbers on mine. But since I have you here. these 6200 shrouds he speaks of. Do you have these and could you PM a price to me? I think I would be interested in these as well.

Thanks again all who have replied.
