sand question

what if any has been your experience with a 50/50 mix(mixed together then mixed some more before added to tank) of white and black sand (long term) i like the looks but wondering how it looks after a few months//years.

any effects on your overall tank lighting/looks ect

the two colors have always seperated in my tanks. i really liked the look of it and how it made things pop abit more when it was all mixed up though.

I have had it in my 210g fw tank for probably 4yrs and love it. The sand stays mixed but the crushed coral does seem to separate....

i guess i should say i already did it before i posted and there is no crushed coral ..waiting on my led lights to arrive.... i know it made a big difference on the looks of my tank with my old pc lighting with 3 year old bulbs so i am imagining a great visual perk up when the leds get here..getting this 30g ready for a softie/zoo/mushroom reef...aka a weed reef (no corals yet)...seriously considering doing it to all my tanks which are bare bottom fowlr

Sounds cool. I guess I should say there was Tahitian Moon sand, crushed coral, white sugar sand, and pool filter sand. I love black sand but it is to dark in a lot of cases and shows the waste to easily.
Mixed together I got a nice salt/pepper look & my fish colored up better on it. jme
