cleaner shrimp
I bought a cleaner shrimp three days ago. I have not seen him since the day I put him into my tank. should I be worried? Are they more of a nocturnal shrimp?
Thanks |

I do not have any aggressive fish that would kill it or eat it.

Mine was like that at first. He molted too, after that he has become very outgoing. He is one of the most enjoyable animals in my tank, fun to watch

Yea they can be nocturnal. A lot of times when you add a shrimp to your tank it is the first time it has been in water with iodide for a few weeks. Almost without fail my new shrimp molt in the first few days.
If you havent seen a dead shrimp or exoskeleton you are just going to have to wait it out. Who really knows? Good luck. |

I have had several of these guys. They always seem to hide for a few days when first introduced.

Mine hid for the first two days. Now he comes out at all times and especially at feedings to grab his share.

Mine hid as well only comes out once in a while. With the lights off, grab a flashlight and check him out he is probably all over the place.

I had my first cleaner eaten by my condy anemone and second cleaner shrimp killed/eaten by a mean clownfish I had.. Very strange, but true.
